The new Pokemon Sword and Shield games are shaping up to be epic new installments in the franchise! After the first trailer, I was a little disappointed – with my biggest gripe being of the boring and seemingly uninspired new designs of Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble, the starter Pokemon of the new Galar region.
With the new trailer for these games having released a few days ago, however, I am once again extremely excited for these new games. Characters like Professor Magnolia and her granddaughter Sonia seem quite interesting and I hope that they will receive an important part of the story of these games.
The new Pokemon that were unveiled in this last trailer are wonderfully designed, from the already fan-favorites Wooloo, a sheep-like Pokemon, and Corviknight, a Pokemon that seems to be a cross of a Crow or Raven and a medieval suit of armor; to the two new Legendary mascot Pokemon, Zacian and Zamazenta, who both appear to resemble canines, with Zacian holding a sword-like object in its mouth and Zamazenta possessing shield-like traits. My personal favorite of these new Pokemon, however, is Drednaw, a Pokemon that seems to derive traits from either turtles or tortoises.
Also shown is the new battle mechanic of Dynamaxing, which is supersizing your Pokemon. Dynamaxing lasts for three turns and is also used in Max raid battles (similair Pokemon GO) where up to four trainers can battle a Dynamaxed Pokemon with a chance to catch it.
Overall, Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield are looking great and I can wait for more information to be leaked prior to it’s release on November 15th 2019.
